OK no more BRAGGING

I'm back after a week hiatus. Where was I, you ask? Oh I was here cursing my beloved Mac that I wrote so kindly about. That Mac I said was so much better than the husband's PC. The hard drive experienced a defect. Yes, the perfect, wonderful Macbook Pro had a defect.  It had to be fixed; then the hard drive needed replaced.
And then,  all. my. photos. got. wiped. out.  (And no I did not back them up- because I thought my mac would never ever have a problem.) All 4356 of them. How do I know this number? Because the photos are on my oh so cool (yes, foolish bragging at this point) iphone.
So no problem right? The photos can just be re-downloaded via the fantastic,  life saving iphone.
Not so fast, whispers the Mac genuis. The wonderful, incredible iphone does not work that way. But there is a solution, he smiles. Just email each picture to your account and reload the photos one by one.
All. 4356. of. them.
Guess what I am doing today (after the blast ball game, the music performance and the homework of course)?!
On the bright side (because there has to be a bright side), they upgraded my O/S to Leopard for free. Once I can figure it out, I know I will be ecstatic but I will not brag to my PC friends. Promise--I have learned my lesson.

Ugh. There has to be a better solution than just emailing them. If you can do blog posts, etc from your iPhone then you should be able to upload them to flickr or whatever then download them back at home. But even so, I would think you should be able to do a direct connect to your computer and transfer them.

So sorry to hear that your mac has failed you!

LOL Nicole :)
I am truly the most technically clueless person in blog world--I had to be walked through adding a simple picture when I started:)
I'm trying to view it as a way to streamline my rather big photo library BUT if you or anyone else has a solution, let me know!
Well--back to the pics--number 73.

I was getting a little worried about you I must say! Glad to hear all is well...at least now! Good luck with all that downloading my friend! Going to have my hubby back up photos when he gets home...he's in your neck of the woods this weekend :) Hope you have a "less eventful" week! Glad you are back to the blogging world!

Heh - first off, ROCK ON for also being an NPR fan. I LOVE NPR.

And, in fact, on NPR, I recently heard a piece they did on Macs. Specifically, on Mac owners. You know those commercials with the sick frumpy PC guy and the cool hip Mac guy? Apparently they are backfiring on the company because people see the Mac guy as so smug that they're turned off! Which I find hilarious.

Anyway, thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you'll be back . . . and that SUCKS you have to email them all. I also have an iphone (LOVE IT!)

Well, S***! I don't have much else to say to that.

OH boy. That sounds like oodles and oodles of fun. But you are super cool since you have an iphone! I just look at others and drool.

And you only have 4000ish pics??? When my kids were younger we took 1000/month! Really. I probably have close to 100,000!!!

Ok, you just TOTALLY scared the "you-know-what" out of me when I thought you had lost all of your pics forever. That is like losing a child...

I just got a new Dell, too scared to switch over to MAC. Although I have heard mostly good things, I am mostly just scared of change. It's not my thing.

These stories of lost photos SO scare me. Hopefully your ending was a happy one. If laborious.

CC--these are merely the pics from less than two years. The rest, from my PC days, are backed up on CDs--lots and lots of CDs....back to picture 2436 (yeah, I skipped a few!)
Thank you all for the kind words and I'm happy I have inspired some to BACK UP photos :)

Good luck with that. We'll be seeing you in about 6 years, when you finally finish sending all those emails.

Hi Lisa! Me again.

Thanks for your comment on my poem. I actually wrote the poem first and then tried to find a picture that best fit the images in my head. So, it isn't a poem about Venus, actually it's about myself. But, if you want to compare me to Venus, well that is your perogative! ;)

Ouch. I feel your pain. I don't suppose there's a way to mail a number of photos at a time?

Guess I should back up my photos again. It's been a while.

OMG. I guess the bright side is that you will be getting a lot of great emails with cute pictures? Seriously, there HAS to be a better way...right?

Oh I would be so not friendly with my computer after losing that many pics. They are my life line. I almost lost all mine a few weeks ago and I thought I was going to die. Good luck on your tedious project. Eat chocolate that always helps.
