My boot camp has a voluntary 'detox diet'--a no fun diet, esp. if you are really into food. Two days a week you eat just fruit and lunch is just veggies. And I tried to follow it. I really did. But God blessed me with cooking skills. And my cooking skills usually involve, cream, chicken skin, bacon and olive oil.
I have been a bad boot camper and my scale is letting me know. Since I started boot camp, I am not getting that burst of energy and overall happy vibes and even more so, I have gained 3 pounds. Not good.
So I went out to the grocery store today to follow 'the diet'. And then I got to thinking.....is it worth being grumpy and eating bland food just so you can slink into a size 0 skirt? Or would it be better to laugh, eat and love in a size much bigger?
I don't know. I really don't.
Anyone?

Since you are doing the intense exercise... you could be gaining muscle! But I always go back to the good 'ol saying "everything in moderation". Sometimes if I deprive myself of certain things, I just crave them more. Maybe you should try to stick to the diet for a week, maybe to get a jump start... and them go back to "moderation".
o and another thing, that I learned... if you get hungry later at night, try to just eat protein. because if you eat carbs.. you don't have time to burn them off and they turn to fat... eat your special treats earlier in the day... if you eat protein at night, it goes to your muscle or goes out as waste. Drink a glass of water before each meal not after. If you drink it after, the water pushes the food out of your stomach making you hungry. Wait at least 1-2 hours to drink again after eating.
I think it's just a personal decision. Some people get a high from exercise. Some people get a high from chocolate. I think it's got to be a balance of being happy and being healthy. Even skinny people can be ultra un-healthy.
I think food is wonderful. I love it! I am NOT skinny. If anything, I should probably lose about 20 pounds. But the only way I'm not about 50 pounds heavier is portion control. I eat what I want, but less of it. If I get hungry I try to drink first to see if that fills my hunger. If not then I eat something I want, but a small amount of it.
see, you can have german chocolate cake. Really, you can.
Oh Lisa, I will never be a size 0 (or a 2 or a 4) because I love food too much, it's about balance. Eat the cake and enjoy it, life is too short not to.
I gained weight when I just started working out again, but then it starts to come off, or you feel the inches melting away. Keep with it. I never deny myself, just work really hard at eating smaller portions!
I don't remember how skinny feels, but I do remember liking trying on clothes that looked good.
It was awesome.
Then again, I have some pretty good memories of German Chocolate Cake too.
